Your CCIC Number (OSN) may have expired due to inactivity or non-use of applications requiring an OSN login. You will need access to the OpenFox Desktop application to reenable your account. You will need access to the OpenFox Desktop application to reenable your account.

To launch the 'OpenFox Desktop' application:
Note: If you are installing the desktop application for the first time, you will need a product key or use a computer that already has the OpenFox Desktop application installed. Your agency CCIC Coordinator can assist in this request.

  1. Open the following link: https://ccic.state.co.us:8443/COL/
  2. Select 'Launch the OpenFox Desktop' button.
  3. Attempt another login with your CCIC number (OSN) and follow the on screen instructions.
If you continue to have expired account messages or cannot remember your questions to reset your password, you will need to contact the CBI's Network Operations Center at 303.239.4222

Occasionally users may not be able to log into Sotar for various reasons. We suggest the verifying the following issues:
  1. Make sure you are using your CCIC assigned OSN and password
  2. Validate that you can log into a terminal that has an Openfox client installed so that you can get to the point where you can run a query, no query needs to be ran.
  3. Occasionally updating your password in OpenFox, for reasons unknown, you'll need to reset it a second time.
  4. Password needs to be 15 characters or less
  5. Don't use special characters in your password at this time
  6. Validate with your TAC/CCIC Coordinator or call CBI at 303.239.4222 that your CCIC account isn't locked or disabled
If you run into this issue, please contact CBI's Network Operations Center at 303.239.4222 and tell them you need a secondary profile to allow access from everywhere, (including by definition, no ORI). You are set up properly with CBI, but in order to access SOTAR, the secondary profile access needs to be created.
Other questions
CJIS requirements required that the SOTAR application be updated to use your CCIC Number for application authentication. The user name that was once used for login is only used for legacy application purposes and will be phased out at a future date.
